HOW FUN ARE THESE LITTLE GUYS??
OK, some background here;
We're no strangers to equine. We bred and showed Quarter Horses for several years. I barrel raced, my husband competed in Jr Rodeo (no, not how we met), years later we competed in futurities. We did very well in very hard competition. Fast forward 10 - 15 years and I discovered a mini mule that a girlfriend had. Hhmmm, cool........
So I found myself a FANTASTIC jack --
Murphy came off a large ranch in Satsop Valley, Washington. They breed donkeys there with fabulous dispositions and we got lucky that they happened to have one donkey available and it was a jack. Mind you, a wild jack, not broke, just over a year old. Although dangerous at first, just due to fear on his part, he trained up really well and, because of great breeding, is now quite the gentleman. Murphy goes to Fairs and petting zoos. Oh, his name? You've seen the movie Shrek? Donkey - voiced by Eddie Murphy - Murphy. You got it.
Then we needed some mini mares;
That was easy as we knew right where to go. Double Tree Miniatures in Kalispel, Montana. Now, Frank and Kathleen weren't thrilled at what I wanted to do with their little mares but they were supportive and picked out some beautiful, well bred, great dispositions, gorgeous moving mares.
